Some cruise lines unfortunately give disembarking preference to passengers who book excursions through the ship, which makes outside arrangements more difficult. During a recent Caribbean cruise, I got off the ship in Belize City too late to catch the tour company I wanted for a cave-tubing excursion, but it turned out the cruise line couldn't have done me a bigger favor. After some last-minute bargaining among several agencies at the cruise terminal, I ended up with Allen Dawson, a guide with Experience Belize Tours, who packed me in the van with a Chilean family of five, only one of whom spoke even a little English. Dawson handled the language situation well, providing all information and instruction in both languages and helping me with my mangled Spanish. The tour itself -- riding down a river in inner tubes through pitch- dark limestone caves -- was terrific. Dawson maintained the structure of the trip but still kept it very casual, engaging the group in all sorts of discussions, from family and jobs to Chilean politics and the ability of tequila to improve mangled Spanish. He's about 35, has worked for the airlines, lived in CA for a few years, has visited the states many times, and now lives back in his homeland. We loved him. Please do give this man a holler. He is as genuine as anyone we'd ever met. He has a wife and young son. He made this a trip to remember. He's wonderful and I really can't say enough positive things about him. "My husband and I went online and booked a tour with Experience
Belize Tours. From the very beginning Leah answered all our
emails and provided us with all the information we needed to put
our minds at ease. Upon meeting Allen he treated us like an old
friend. Even though we were the only 2 taking the tour, Allen didn't cut
any corners, from showing us the Missionary Homes, Kingdom Halls and
Assembly sites, to going cave tubing which is a must do if ever in Belize.
On the return trip into town we stopped and had a wonderful meal that
was the icing on the cake. Our only regret was that because we were
bound by the cruise ships time we couldn't spend more time exploring this
wonderful country. But we have decided to make another trip to Belize
and with the help of Allen and the wonderful team of Experience Belize
Tours it will be as memorable as our first trip."

As veterans of 20 cruises we have been on many tours. Some of them
were ship sponsored and some of them we arranged ourselves. Some
were good and some not so good. Among the very best was our tour of
Belize with Allen Dawson. Sixteen of us took the tour and without
exception were very pleased. Not only was the tour all we could ask for, it
was an exceptional value. I highly recommend them.
I have no connection with the Dawsons except that of a very satisfied
customer.

Finally we have time to respond to the email...We had such a lovely time
visiting Belize. We were very impressed with the amount of knowledge
that Allen knew about the island. I don't think there was much more he
could have shown us with such a short amount of time we had at the port,
it was just right. I think our big highlight was visiting the Assembly Hall,
Missionary home, & Kingdom Hall.
